Senior Lecturer in Criminology, University of Greenwich

Dr Madeline Petrillo is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Greenwich. Madeline’s research focuses on the experiences of women in the justice system. Inspired by her former work as a Probation Officer, Madeline is particularly interested in examining how to support women in the justice system using gender-responsive, trauma-informed approaches. Madeline’s current research focuses on trauma-informed practice and interventions in prisons and probation. She completed the pilot evaluation of the Healing Trauma intervention that is being delivered in women's prisons in England and is researching the development of Hope Street, a trauma-informed residential women's centre, with colleagues at the University of Portsmouth.
