We are thrilled to announce that we have received a grant from the Garfield Weston Foundation towards the Hope Street hub to support women involved with the justice system. We are so grateful for this generous donation which allows us to continue at pace with the construction work.

We are also delighted that Hants-based housing provider, Vivid, has chosen One Small Thing as their charity of the year and are committed to raising £10,000 for Hope Street. In October, some of the team took part in a 26 mile sponsored walk. Three of them set off from the Hope Street site in Southampton and three set off from Vivid's office in Portsmouth and they met halfway at Hill Head.

In September, the foundation for the residential building was laid, using 23 lorry-loads of concrete and children's love and messages were hidden among the foundations.

The One Small Thing team also visited the Hope Street site in Southampton to see the build first hand and meet with the architects to hear more about how trauma-informed principles have informed the plans for the hub and gardens.

Next stage in the build, scaffolding will go up which means that the Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) building can start to be erected. This special CLT will help towards our ambitious aim of achieving a BREEAM Outstanding rating. BREEAM is the world’s leading sustainability assessment for buildings. Only the top 1% of buildings achieve A BREEAM Outstanding Rating.

The Hope Street team now has a local office base onsite and are really looking forward to watching the progress of the timber frame which should be completed early next year.
