The Build
Thanks to our generous supporters, after having completed the build of Hope Street in March, the interiors have all been fitted and with all of the furniture, plants and artwork being placed around the spaces, Hope Street is now feeling like a home.
The garden has also come on great strides over the last couple of months, and we are starting to see the hard work paying off. The garden and outdoor spaces at Hope Street are an important aspect of the healing environment and will provide regulating and reflective spaces for women and their children. The garden will also be a space for activity and learning – where women can grow their own fruit and vegetables and learn about horticulture.
With the build complete, and the final few details being finished, the team are excited to welcome women and their children, and start building the Hope Street community!
Hope Street Team
We have now recruited our new Hope Street delivery team and they have been focusing on inducting and training – including four days of training with Dr Stephanie Covington who came over from the US to deliver for us. The Team have now moved on-site and are busily sorting furniture and items needed to equip the spaces. The team have fed back positively on working in such a unique building environment.
”We all feel very fortunate to be part of seeing this exceptional project come to fruition and to be able to personally benefit from the warmth and beauty the space has to offer. It is a very unique and grounding place to be able to call the ‘office’!”
Emmie Baker, Head of Operations at Hope Street
Supporting Women
Having received Becoming Trauma Informed, Healing Trauma+ and Helping Women Recover Group delivery training sessions from Stephanie Covington, the Senior Community Partners have been testing out their Group delivery of these sessions and are looking forward to providing these to women at Hope Street.
The referral pathway with Probation colleagues is now in place and we have received our first ever referral for Hope Street! We are looking forward to welcoming her and many more over the coming months.
Raising Awareness of Hope Street
In April, we were delighted to host Justice Minister Damien hinds at Hope Street. He was joined by Donna Jones, Police & Crime Commissioner for Hampshire. It was great to show him around the site and share more about the difference Hope Street will make not only for the women who are supported there, but the local community too.
