Hope Street April 2022 Update
The build of the Hope Street Hub is now well underway and on track to be finished by the end of 2022, ready to welcome women and children in the new year.
Our first Hope House, located on the plot next door to the hub site, is in progress. It includes five ensuite bedrooms, a communal living space and kitchen and is scheduled to be completed within the next month. The kitchen was generously donated by our first corporate partner, Vivid Housing. We anticipate being able to offer five women, in need of somewhere safe and comfortable to live, accommodation in the house by the end of April.
We were thrilled to have been chosen as one of the charities to benefit from the Big Give’s Women and Girls Match Fund to raise money for therapeutic group activities for justice involved women. The campaign launched on 8th March which was International Women’s Day are delighted to have met our target of £5000 for our activities programme.
Our team currently work with women on Probation in Hampshire facing multiple disadvantage and housing issues. The support we provide includes a programme of activities that offer opportunities to participate in therapeutic groups and activities that have a focus on helping women understand and heal from the trauma they have experienced in their lives.
One of the groups we have been piloting is Aerial Fitness. The women accessing this session face a range of complex challenges, and the group has supported ongoing engagement. Our team have taken part and joined in with the activity, which has contributed to developing open and trusting relationships and supported one-to-one work outside of these sessions. The activities are currently hosted at our office and support work premises, but will transfer to our Hope Street hub and residential community when it opens.
