Update on Hope Street
Jane Smith, Community Director for Hope Street
This month, the groundworks for the new Hope Street site got underway and we have recruited three new members of the Hope Street team! Our Complex Needs and Housing Keyworker is part of the new Probation contract in Hampshire for which we are delighted to be partnering with Advance, combining our expertise to reach more women across the county. In August, our Head of Wellbeing and Community and our Data Manager will join to help plan all the operational aspects of Hope Street in preparation for Hope Street opening in 2022.
Southampton City Council has also recently granted planning permission for the refurbishment of a property close to our main site, which will be the first of our shared, supported community houses for the Hope Street community.
Benchmarking Trauma-Informed Work
Read Dr Alexandria Bradley from Leeds Beckett University’s article - Viewing her Majesty's Prison Service through a Trauma-Informed Lens, and her blog on working collaboratively with One Small Thing to develop the first UK-wide Working with Trauma Quality Mark.
Joint Letter - Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill
We share ongoing concerns that the Police Crime Sentencing and Courts Bill in its current form will have harmful long-term consequences for women. We were proud to sign Working Chance's letter with others in the sector on this topic.
